First United Methodist Church is hosting a wide array of community programs during the next two weeks, including . . .

Meet the Mayor this Thursday!
Mayor Abbott is hosting another "Meet the Mayor" on March 4th at 6:00 p.m. at New Hope Church. Residents can come to find out what is happening in and around town and may then publicly ask questions, get answers and even talk one-on-one with the Mayor afterwards. This is not only a great way to find out what is happening around town, but it is a fabulous opportunity to get involved in helping to keep Lansing the great community that it is!
Lansing Library is Hosting Its Third Annual Senior Citizen's Month!
The Lansing Library will honor the older members of the community in March by hosting is Third Annual Senior Citizen's Month! Upcoming programs include:
March 4th at 10:00 a.m. Rosemary Gard, author of Destiny's Dowry, will talk about her book.
March 9th at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Durning of Lansing Chiropractic clinic will discuss diet and nutrition, stress to the body, spinal health and chiropractic care.
March 11th at 10:30 a.m. the Library will present a movie.
March 16th at 10:00 a.m. Master Gardner Jennifer Tobin from the University of Illinois Extension will share tips on caring for holiday and house plants.
March 18th at 10:00 a.m. a presentation regarding women of influence will be held.
March 23rd at 10:00 a.m. Attorney Kari Ann Legg will speak about estate planning and Choices Brokerage Representative Judith Pedgrift will speak about social security planning.
March 25th at 10:30 a.m. Just for Fun Ukulele Strummers will perform.

On March 5th at 6:30 p.m. the Library will host a concert of Irish music by Dyed in the Wool, a popular Beverly neighborhood band. The band blends American and Celtic folk traditions in its music. Please call 708/474-2447 to register for this free program.
Ronald McDonald is coming to Lansing!
On March 6th at 11:00 a.m., McDonalds will be offering face painting for children! In addition, all children who are at McDonald's at 11:00 a.m. will receive a coupon for a free ice cream cone!

White Rhino Candlelight Bowl!
On March 6th, starting at 7:30 p.m., White Rhino, Bottom's Up sister, is hosting a Candlelight Bowl! Hors Dourves will be served at White Rhino at 7:30 p.m., and bowling will take place at Stardust at 9:30 p.m. The cost is only $20 per person, and includes bowling, shoes and hors dourves!

On March 24th the will host another cooking class. Come enjoy a four course meal and demonstration cooking class. Chef John Rooney will give tips and show techniques for creating a wonderful meal!
SSC Presents . . . Marketing for the Real World!
On March 9th from 8:15 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., SSC will be hosting a workshop regarding marketing for the real world. Digital media/marketing consultant Gary Kuzminski will take you through some of the basic concepts and strategies addressing the change to a digitally empowered consumer. SSC Second Annual Women's Conference & Expo!
On March 12th, SSC will host the Second Annual Women's Conference & Expo at the college's main campus in South Holland, Illinois.
Over 25 speakers will provide attendees with the latest information on personal wellness, business and finance, parenting and family, and much more. Robin Kelly, Chief of Staff to State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias will serve as the keynote speaker this year. Additionally, more than 55 exhibitors will be on hand to promote goods and services including jewelry and accessories, nutritional supplements, hand-crafted items, apparel, cosmetics, financial, health & wellness and family service providers.
The cost is just $15 per person, which includes a complimentary continental breakfast, lunch, and the conference admission featuring all of the exciting break-out sessions and wonderful shopping opportunities with a wide-range of products and services.
Notably, Chamber Members Renee Hale of WellSpirit Consulting, Kari Ann Legg and Chiro One Wellness will be hosting breakout sessions. In addition, Chamber Member Wendy Heise of Wish Photography will be showcasing her work at the Expo!

Thrivent Financial Teams Up to Help Jenna!
Chamber Member Gina Aguilar of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and St. John's Lutheran School are hosting a benefit to help Jenna, who has triumphantly fought against Stage IV Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma. A benefit will be held on March 20th at the school's gymnasium. The minimum donation is only $20 for adults or $10 for children under 10. There will be door prizes and a buffet dinner.
